My first full length play was inspired by the life of Henrietta Lacks, whose immortal cells helped code human DNA and find a cure for too many diseases to list. But what did her life (and subsequent immortality) mean to the daughter she left behind?
Its also about a musician friend of mine, who lost her partner to cancer shortly after the birth of their child. How she managed to remember and reconnect – finally – through his DNA and a piece of music she made out of it for their daughter to listen to.
With Claire Perkins, produced by Soho Theatre & the Albany Deptford, the play ran at both those venues before touring to over 35 theatres throughout the UK
